What is pelvic pain?

Pelvic pain in women, is pain in the pelvic region, which is the lower part of your abdomen and pelvis. It isn’t an uncommon condition and it affects mostly women of reproductive age. It can be a symptom of a condition or a condition itself; therefore sometimes the causes can be unclear.

What are Pelvic Pain Symptoms?

Symptoms can vary and you may experience steady and severe pain, a constant dull ache or intermittent aches. In addition, you may also experience pain during intercourse, when urinating or having bowel movement, and when you sit or stand for a long time. Some women experience pain so severe that they can’t sleep, or go to work. Lying down may help relieve the pain to some degree.

Physiotherapy and osteopathy can help ease chronic pelvic pain, whether the causes are physical or psychological. At Excellence Physiotherapy London, we have a female physiotherapist and an osteopath who specialise in women’s health, who can offer pelvic pain re-education.

How Pelvic Pain Physiotherapy and osteopathy treatment works?

Our London pelvic physiotherapist and osteopath will perform an assessment and put together a personalised treatment plan for you, based on your medical history, cause of your condition and level of pain. During the treatment, the pelvic physiotherapist will work on the specific muscles that cause pain, such as pelvic floor muscles and stretch them in order to relax them and ease the pain. Our London pelvic Physiotherapists and osteopaths will also teach you exercises you can do on your own in between sessions and after treatment has finished, in order to increase the benefits of your treatment.
